Muslims believe in one God and that Muhammad is His messenger. The central text of Islam is the Quran, which was revealed to Muhammad by God. Muslims believe in peace, justice, and equality for all. The Quran teaches that all human beings are equal in the eyes of God, regardless of race, gender, or nationality. Islam is a religion of tolerance and respect for others. And fight them on until there is no more Tumult or oppression, and there prevail justice and faith in Allah; but if they cease, Let there be no hostility except to those who practise oppression." The Prophet Muhammad also said, "Do not wish to be like anyone except in two cases. (The first is) A person whom Allah has given wealth and he spends it righteously; (the second is) the one whom Allah has given wisdom (i.e. religious knowledge) and he acts according to it and teaches it to others." (Sahih Bukhari, Volume 3, Book 34, Number 419) Islam is thus a religion that teaches its followers to be tolerant and just, and to only resort to violence in self-defense.
